Culture
Costa Rica’s culture is rich and varied- from the European traditions that date back to Spanish colonial times to the Afro-Caribbean culture of the coast of the Caribbean. There are some things that translate through each of these segments of society though…
The people of Costa Rica are hospitable, friendly, polite & humble. The sense of family is deeply rooted in Costa Rican culture; being that Costa Rica is a predominately Catholic country, very large families are not uncommon. Costa Rica is a conservative, traditional culture and you will find that quite often the children of the family stay at home until they marry.
Costa Ricans (commonly called Ticos) are known for their warmth and friendliness. They are proud of their country and glad to have you as their guest.
