Day 1 Wrap Up
This is Stacey Murray & Stephanie Green and we are reporting to you live from the Del Pacifico booth at the ISA Billabong 2009 World Surf Games here in Playa Hermosa. It's hot down here, and we're not just talking about the weather...The buzz, when it's not about the surfing, is in anticipation of the bikini contest next weekend.
The surf is good - 3 to 4 foot beachbreak waves. At this point, the US is the only country to win each of it's heats. Costa Rica, with their home surf advantage, put all of their surfers through to their next heats.
Yesterday, opening day of competition, had an attendance somewhere between 5 and 10 thousand, depending on who you talk to.
